The motive for Imam Husain’s (a.s.) rising PDF Print E-mail

In Ziarat (pilgrimage) of the holy Prophet (s.a.w.a.), Imam Husain (a.s.) says:

….Greetings to you, O Messenger of Allah. I am Husain, your son and the son of your offspring. I am the elder offspring and you’re worthy son appointed by you as your successor for guiding and leading my nation. But behold! O the Messenger of Allah, they have weakened me and not preserved my spiritual position and with this complaint to you, I express my desire to meet you very soon.

Imam Husain (a.s.) besides the Prophet’s (s.a.w.a.) grave:

O Allah, this is the grave of Mohammad, Thy Messenger and I am his grandson. Thou are aware of the incident that has befallen me. O Allah, I favour goodness and virtue and am weary of evil and vices. O the Lord of Majesty and Grace, I ask Thee, by the honour of this grave that Thou show me the path that pleases Thee and that pleases Thy prophet.

Imam Husain (a.s.) in reply to Omar Atraf:

………My father narrated to me from the Messenger of Allah (s.a.w.a.) about his own death as well as the death that lay ahead of me. My father also informed that my grave would be close to his grave. Do you imagine you are aware of something that I do not know? But, I swear by Allah that I would never bear humiliation and on the Day of Judgment, my mother Fatimah would complain before my grandfather, the hardships inflicted upon her children by his nation. And whosoever offends Fatimah by hurting her children will never enter paradise.

Imam Husain (a.s.) in reply to Umm-Salmah:

………I know better than you that I would be killed by way of oppression and enmity and my head would be severed. And Allah, the Almighty has willed that my family should be taken captives; my children martyred and killed by the chains of captivity; and their cry for help rings in the ears but they find no helper and aid.

Imam Husain (a.s.) in reply to Mohammad Hanafia:

O brother, even if there exists no place of refuge in this vast and extensive world, yet, I would not swear allegiance to Yazid-ibn-Muawiya.

Imam Husain (a.s.) in his will:

………I am not setting out of Medina out of egotism or pleasure or oppression. But, I am departing for the sake of enjoining the good and forbidding the evil and by this, I only intend to rectify the evils of my nation and restoring to life the Sunnah of my grandfather and the way of my father, Amir-ul-Mumineen. Thus, whosoever accepts this reality from me has accepted the divine path and whosoever rejects and disobeys me, then I would pursue my path with patience and leave upon Allah to judge between them and me for He is the best of Judges.
