Whomust we refer to regarding Islamic matters during Imam Mahdi’s occultation? During the minor occultation Imam Mahdi’s deputies (or representatives) were four people: Othman ibn Saeed, Mohammad ibn Othman, Hossein ibn Ruh and Ali ibn Mohammad. These four conveyed Imam Mahdi’s messages and letters to the people and said and did exactly what he ordered them to. For the major occultation, it has been narrated by Imam Mahdi (AS) that: “about (or regarding) the events that will occur refer to those who narrate our traditions, for they are my hujjah over you and I am the hujjah of Allah.” It must be noted that ‘those who narrate our traditions’ are not merely people who can narrate traditions, but they are people who have the correct knowledge about traditions and act accordingly.
